Health effects of smog in Singapore

Known to be an air pollution free country-Singapore. Smog in Singapore caused by their neighboring country Indonesia due to forest fire. People are advised to remain inside their houses as the haze level is increasing last Wednesday, June 19. Lots of Filipinos are also affected. Tourist are dismayed with the situation and planning to leave the country as soonest possible time. Hospitals in Singapore are prepared to attend more patient.[1]The Pollutant Standards Index, Singapore's main measure for air pollution, surged to a record reading of 371, breaching the "hazardous" classification that can aggravate respiratory ailments.[1]


Health Effects of Haze
  • People with asthma are the most affected, these can make their condition worst.
  • Conjunctivitis or red eye irritation 
  • Lung inflammation
  • Chronic bronchitis
Tips to protect your self from the haze
  • When going outdoors always cover your  nose and mouth with thick mask.
  • Drink plenty of water
  • Boost your immune system by eating fruits reach in vitamin C, like oranges and guavas.
  • Close the doors and windows of your house.
