June 25, 2 congressmen died after having stem cell therapy overseas.These are congressmen Erico Aumentado and Pedro Romualdo, said Sonny Belmonte, Speaker of the house, however he clarified that it has not been established whether stem cell therapy was the cause of death.
The late Erico Aumentado was the 2nd District Rep. of Bohol province, and reportedly died of pneumonia last December 25, 2012, at the age of 72. His son Aristotle said that Philippine Medical Association (PMA) did not approached them for the investigation regarding the 3 politicians who died after having stem cell therapy overseas. He even added that his father had a leg problems and started walking after the stem cell therapy without a walking stick, and they have no regrets about the therapy, he also has no comment regarding the PMA's statements. April 24, 2013 Pedro Romualdo also reportedly died with pnuemonia.
Pres. of PMA, Dr. Olarte said that they already approached the families of the victims to get more information but some of them refused to cooperate causing a little delay in the investigation.
PMA urged the Filipino not to go abroad to seek for this kind of treatment, and advised to choose those who are accredited by the Dept. of Health (DoH).
